Challenge accepted

I don't have much to say...With these rainy days keeping me inside my house, with hot cocoa and movies, my life has been pretty boring lately...Went to work, every day, 9 to 5, then anxiously awaited for Saturday to oversleep and overeat :)

Speaking of oversleeping: I recently noticed that instead of making me feel refreshed and full of energy, those extra hours of sleep make me even more tired than before. Not to mention the fact that Monday mornings are my biggest nightmare. Waking up at 7 am after a lazy Sunday is like a painful slap in the face...Add rain to the equation and you've got yourselves a sad, nothing-in-the-world-can-make-me-happy kind of situation.

So, from now on, I will keep to the exact schedule during the entire week. We'll see how it goes! My boyfriend gives this little project of mine absolutely no chance...:) You're always so supportive, hon! :P

Have a wonderful week, guys!

Golden Sea of Happiness

As I was driving home for Easter last Saturday, I was mesmerized by the amazing golden sea of canola flowers. It was so beautiful, I can't find ways to describe it...It looked like happiness! I just had to stop to enjoy that wonderful scenery and take some photos.

Unfortunately, the heavy rain caused serious floods to southern Romania, especially to Teleorman county.Things are pretty bad over there...My grandpa's back garden looks and sounds like a swamp...but in other villages in that area the situation is lots worse. It really made me feel guilty about all the whining about rain in Bucharest, about not being able to enjoy spring, etc. It's becoming clear to me that my problems are nothing compared to what other people are going through. Some people didn't get to enjoy the holidays like I did, they've been evacuated from their homes on Easter weekend...It must have been a nightmare! I really hope that things will soon get better for everyone affected by this awful situation!

I hope you all had a great time on Easter and wish you a wonderful rest of the week!

It's raining cats and bows

Wow, wasn't this week so fun? With all the rain, the freezing cold, the chilly mornings?... Oh, I had so much fun :|. NOT!

I hate this type of weather, mostly because I have to wake up at 6:30 am every morning, to go to work, and getting up that early on a rainy day it's never easy...It would be so great to be able to ditch work on days like these, to be like:  "OK, so, I won't be able to come to work today because it's raining and it's the perfect time to sleep!" :)).

I really hope it will get a bit warmer though, as I don't wanna spend the Easter dressed in heavy coats and boots...The forecast for Sunday looks good...so fingers crossed!

No matter the weather, I wish you all a very happy Easter, I hope you enjoy time with family and loved ones, eat delicious food and have a great holiday!

Easter fashion stories

Hi guys,

Only one week left until Easter. Easter, as well as Christmas, holds a very special place in my heart because of all the beautiful childhood memories it brings. My memories are very relevant to the way I approach holidays, and I have my parents and grandparents to thank for this. The weather doesn't look that good at this moments, but hopefully, it will improve in time for my family's traditional Easter barbecue, at my grandparents house.

One of my favorite Easter-related memory is how my parents used to dress me in new clothes that I would afterwards parade at the forest, with my friends and neighbors. Nowadays this tradition isn't that special anymore...mostly because we buy new clothes all year long, but when I was a kid, this was a very fun tradition to look forward to. My parents used to take me shopping only on my birthday, when a new school year started, and on Easter...I remember this one time, when I was about 8 or 9 years old: my Mom had bought me this beautiful multi colored jacket and a pair of red stretch jeans. I could not wait to show off :). In Calinesti, my grandparents' village, every family goes to the forest on Easter Sunday, wearing their finest clothes. They literally parade on the street, and afterwards get settled on the green grass for a picnic or a barbecue. That particular year though, right when I was about to leave home with my cousins to go to the forest, all dressed up and perky, it started raining. It was pouring, and I was crying my eyes off for not having had the chance to show my new attire to the entire village... Me and my Mom still laugh when we remember that day, I can't believe how superficial I was :)).

All in all, wearing new clothes on Easter is a beautiful tradition. I later found out that it dates back centuries, as people's way to celebrate new birth. Even though it isn't that special anymore, I'm sure it will continue to exist, as people (especially women) look for every reason to shop :).

How about you guys? Do you still hold on to this tradition, or have you ever?

Hugs,

Mamalina
